  1. A lot! There are dozens of places to visit that can be done in a day from all directions out of London. (I absolutely fell in love with all of Kent!! so pretty) And Greenwich, ahh!  I found the British to be quite friendly--even helping me get off at the correct stops while riding the bus and having nice conversations while riding. (that wouldn't happen where I live in the USA!) The public transport is excellent--between trains, tubes & buses--you can get everywhere. And the tfl.gov.uk site is dead-on for journey planning.  An added bonus was getting more fit and trim because I was walking around more instead of jumping in my car at the door.  I keep hearing that London is so dirty--I disagree with that, I seemed to see people cleaning up the streets everywhere--the only thing that was a problem is that people don't pick up after their dogs..so you have to watch out.  I lived in SE London for a few months on a temporary job--there were some challenges, but it was amazing! hope this helps--
