America’s Caleb Paine leading leaderboard of Finn fleet: 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta
Third day of the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta brought some outstanding sailing experience to the participants as well as the spectators present at the Medemblik waters.
The Finn fleet completed the scheduled races of third day on time to produce the latest results which featured America’s Caleb Paine on the leading podium place.
The US sailor had a tremendous start of the third day proceedings and with two first positions. In the third day beats, he was able to maintain his leading position with 21 points.
The American sailor sailed impressively in eight races to achieve the leading positions. One of the races was discarded from the overall results as per sailing rules of the regatta.
Paine’s start of the regatta was not up to the mark as he clinched a couple of lower podiums. Despite the fact that he took a bullet in the opening race, a 12th and ninth finishes brought him down at the end of Day 1.
Nevertheless, the US sailor sprang back with some impressive form and grabbed two higher positions including a bullet along with a fifth to hit the top spot of the result-board.
On the third day proceedings, he was able to grab a bullet and a second podium finish to retain the leading position with 21 points.
