America’s Michael Kiss on Bacio retains lead on Day 2 of 2011 Audi Melges 20 Nationals at Miami
Bacio’s Michael Kiss of USA continued his dominance on the Audi Melges 20 fleet with some excellent sailing display on second day of the 2011 Audi Melges 20 Nationals, which is being held at Miami. The 2011 Audi Melges 20 U.S National Championship is being
hosted by Coconut Grove Sailing Club on the beautiful shores of Florida.
Race 1 on Day 2 commenced on time but due to a strong shift in the wind in the second lap, the Race Committee had to make a quick adjustments to place things back in order within a few minutes. Kiss put up a superb sailing display on Miami waters and clinched
the first race ahead of Marcus Eagan on Cajun Underwriting.
Kiss received a major blow in the second race, which followed shortly after his first race victory. The American tried to make a quick return to the line to gain the leading position again but during this effort, Kiss tumbled down leg by leg to finish fourth
in the race.
However, the final race brought him back on track, as he had a strong and absolutely perfect start which took him to the place right where he wanted to finish at the end. With his impressive upwind speed in Race 3, Kiss managed to hit the first podium spot
in the race to retain his lead over the fleet.

The second day of the event began with an early 15 to 18 knots breeze which assisted the standing leader, Michael Kiss on Bacio, to stay on top of the 30-boat, highly competitive fleet. Kiss had a superb racing on Day 2 and clinched 1, 4, 1 places to remain
the leading skipper of the event with seven points after six races, which includes one discard.
