America’s Quantum Racing clinches coastal race of 2011 Region of Murcia Trophy at Cartagena in Spain
Overall leader in the standings of 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit, America’s Quantum Racing clinched the coastal race of 2011 Region of Murcia Trophy on Day 4 at Cartagena in Spain. However,
despite a splendid performance in the coastal race, the American yacht is still struggling on third place in the overall standings of the event.
The world champions sailed tremendously in the 25-mile coastal race to ensure their victory. Quantum Racing was struggling in the event but the coastal race win has helped them jump up
to the number three spot on the scoreboard. Meanwhile, the overall leaders of TP52 series, Bribon managed to claim the second spot and sustained their lead.
While speaking to the local media after the race, Quantum Racing project manager Ed Reynolds said, “It was an amazingly important day. When we came into this we thought Azzurra would come
good. When we saw them struggle in Cascais we thought’ these guys are too good for this.”
He added, “Watching them on the race course they are amazing sailors and my personal feeling is that they have been the threat since Day 1. It was just a matter of time before they found
the gears. At first there was maybe a lot of speculation that the Audi boats maybe questions over them, but I don’t think there are questions now.”
