America’s Quantum Racing secures 2011 Audi TP52 World Championships title at Sardinia
An excellent performance from America’s Quantum Racing at Sardinia’s Porto Cervo brought them on top of the 2011 Audi TP52 World Championships at the end of the final day, as the American team lifted the championship title for the third time. Skipper, Ed
Baird, along with the crew must be feeling very happy to have won the championship again.
Weather conditions on the final day of the event were moderate, as the breeze gusted around the racing area from 7 to 11 knots. The American team displayed some tremendous sailing skills to retain the top spot and win the championship.
Quantum Racing skipper, Ed Baird, was happy with team’s performance especially with the tactics provided by Adrian Stead. Stead was also thrilled with the way his side lifted the title at the event.
While speaking to local media at the end of final day, Stead said, “It is splendid. It is a great way to finish the season. We had a tense Audi MedCup, we have been really pleased with the way that we have sailed here against boats which have been in their
conditions in the form of Gladiator and Paramount Park. Everyone has been pushing pretty hard.”
Germany’s Container also made a superb comeback and managed to finish at second spot while Great Britain’s Gladiator finished third. In the meanwhile, Spain’s Paramount Park Murcia could not maintain their dominance and tumbled down at number four with 24
points.
