why is americas capital washington dc ??

i don't see why New York shouldn't be the capitol its the biggest city , its the cultural center why Washington dc whats so special about it ?

Washington is the central of all america it has all of the government offices and is the place of the president

The capital is the seat of government; the place from which the country is governed.

It doesn’t matter how large or small it is or if it has culture, the performing arts or museums.

I suppose it could be possible to have a Capital with no one residing in it. Everyone could commute to work there and go home at quitting time.
