Ami Matsuo seizes Girls 200m freestyle gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Ami Matsuo of Carlile seized gold medal of the Girls 200m freestyle in 16 years old category on day three of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Thursday, April 11.
The 16-year-old Matsuo showed no mercy to her opponents in the 200m discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing end for first position. With her astonishing pace, she remained in a prominent lead over her toughest challenger and hit the wall for
gold medal.
She stayed in a lead of one and a half body length over her foregoing finisher and hit the wall the timing of 1 minute and 58.22 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Chelse Gillett of Clayfield, who was 1.70 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.92 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Kiah Melverton of Tss Aquatics, who was nearly three seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.30 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Eliza Ham of Nunawading, who was only 0.12 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 02.42 seconds.
Fifth spot of the event was secured by Sophie Taylor of Ryde-Carlile, who was 0.25 seconds apart and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 02.67 seconds.
Sixth spot of the discipline was obtained by Suwannachet of Thailand, who stayed nearly 0.22 seconds apart and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.89 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Meg Parry of Nunawading, who was nearly two seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 04.61 seconds.
Last spot of the race was secured by Natali Vercher of UNAV, who was 1.26 second slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 05.87 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
