Question:

Amino acid and protein absorption?

I just asked about the availability of high doses of vitamins, but forgot to ask about amino acids as well

If you take for example 3 grams of an amino acid is it possible to absorb that much at once. I have read that amino acids and proteins are more absorbable then vitamins, but am not convinced due to its source.

thanks

  1. Amino acids taken in pill or liquid form are absorbed by the body almost immediately.  Amino acids from food such as eggs or meat take longer because you have to digest the food.

  2. While there is no exact number the percent of protein and amino acid absorption is very high, much higher than vitamins. So most likely you would get a very high about of amino acid from a 3 gram amino acid supplement.
