Amir Khan, Freddie Roach respond to Roger Mayweather drug claims – Boxing news
The Black Mamba Roger Mayweather recently accused the current WBA World super lightweight champion Amir Khan of using steroids ahead of his fights.
Mayweather, who is best known for training his nephew Floyd Mayweather (five-division world champion), claimed Khan uses steroids and that is the reason why he has become so much popular.
However, Khan and his trainer Freddie Roach have straightaway responded to the senior member of the Mayweather clan.
The 24-year-old Bolton belter, Khan is set to face Zab ‘Super’ Judah in a unification bout for the world titles this weekend on July 23, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Khan said he has been tested before and after his fights and even at home so there is no point of using anything.
“I’ve consistently proved that I am a clean fighter. This is nonsense. I’ve been tested repeatedly in my career, before and after fights, at home and my base in Los Angeles,” Khan said.
Khan, who has won 25 of his 26 fights including 17 by the way of a knockout, stated he was an Olympian and everybody knows how much tough testing they people do.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “Don’t forget that I came through the Olympics (in 2004) where testing is very thorough. I’ve never refused the test, even though I could have done so when I received an unannounced knock on the door a month
after my last fight against Paul McCloskey.”
Freddie Roach in the meanwhile also commented on Mayweather’s statements. Roach said he really doubts Mayweather’s knowledge about steroids.
In the end the 51-year-old Master Roach said he can promise none of his fighters has ever used any illegal substance ahead of their bouts.

“I can promise you that none of my fighters, Amir and Manny included, have ever been to the drugs chemist,” he said.
