Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana lash out against each other again – Boxing news
Super lightweight champion Amir Khan, who is the current unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, is puzzled why Marcos Maidana has not been criticised for his recent win over Petr Petrov.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, who is widely known as King Khan, was criticised a lot when he knocked out the former undisputed welterweight champion Zab ‘Super’ Judah in the fifth round on July 23, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Khan, who holds a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated Judah held the fourth spot in the world rankings when he fought him but even then he was criticised. Khan said Maidana who defeated
a boxer not even in the top 50 has not been criticised.
“Maidana fought last night [Friday] and won by KO. Well done. But the guy he fought wasn’t even in the top 50. Why is it when I fought judah who was fourth in the world I got criticised?” The Brit asked his Twitter followers.
The El Chino, Maidana, who secured a fourth round knockout win over Petrov, wanted a rematch with Khan but he was turned down, as Khan is taking on Lamont Peterson on December 10, 2011. Therefore, Maidana replied Khan by saying it is because he ducked him.
The 28-year-old Maidana, who is the current World Boxing Association’s Super Lightweight champion, also called Khan as a Queen instead of King.
Maidana replied, “Because you run scared from me, that’s why. [You are] a Queen who keeps running. For the Queen’s fans… it’s not me talking about her, she always starts mentioning my name and I’ll always answer everytime she does it.”
Marcos Maidana also revealed he has now set his eyes on a potential clash with Erik Morales, who recently beat Pablo Cesar Cano in Las Vegas.
“Morales did his part and I did mine,” Maidana remarked. “No excuses now, I’m ready for Morales in December if he dares!”
