Amir Khan: Carlos Molina is a great fighter and has a similar style like mine – Boxing News
Former IBF and WBA unified light welterweight titlist Amir ‘King’ Khan spoke to Fightnews.com regarding his upcoming showdown against American unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina. Khan, who is coming off two consecutive losses, at the hands of Lamont Peterson
and Danny Garcia, believes the December bout will be a comeback show for him.
“Carlos Molina is a great fighter and has a similar style like mine,” said Khan, who believes his fight against Molina will be a showdown of speed, agility and power. “This is big fight because he has a big fan base. I am not afraid of fighting anywhere.”
While Khan tries to emphasize on the fact that fighting Molina is an effort for him, most fans know that the reason he chose Molina was to stay away from big punchers like Garcia. Khan has a history of facing fighters who are not-so-solid at punching. Probably,
Garcia was the biggest puncher has faced to date, and he was knocked out bad.
Khan suffered a fourth round knockout loss against Garcia. He was hooked in the third, and staggered in the ring since then.
“I am not afraid of fighting anywhere. When he is in the ring he will be alone….You will see me more focused I will be smart and make the right moves instead of making mistakes. Expect a great Amir Khan on December 15.”
On the other hand, Oscar de la Hoya, commented saying that the fight has all the ingredients to be an exciting one. According to him, Khan always brings his ‘A’ game to show but against Molina, Khan might be troubled. He added that Khan could have taken
an easy fight but he wanted to make it a mark by fighting an opponent that is undefeated.
For now, Khan believes the showdown is his chance to make a strong comeback, and the Briton is ready to give it all. Khan wants to prove his capabilities in the ring and rebuild his brand, which was distorted when Garcia hooked him in the third round, making
him land on the canvas. Khan desperately needs to win against Molina, in order to add weight to his portfolio.
