Amir Khan: Erik Morales can make more money fighting me than Timothy Bradley – Boxing news
The International Boxing Federation’s and World Boxing Association’s World Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, is desperate to convince Erik Morales to fight him instead of Timothy Bradley in December 2011.
Khan wanted to fight the Desert Strom, Bradley, for a title shot but his offer was turned down by the American and since then the 24-year-old Khan is eyeing to take on the Mexican pugilist, Erik Morales, before he goes up in the weight category.
However, Bradley is also aiming to set up a potential clash against the El Terrible, Morales, who is currently set to fight Lucas Matthysse for Bradley’s vacated belt.
Therefore the Brit, who is widely known as King Khan, wants to secure his opponent. He claimed he is a more lucrative fighter than Bradley and if Morales fights him he will get a big payday. The Brit also claimed his fight with Morales will be a bigger fight
than Bradley.
While speaking on his inclusion, Khan said, “If Bradley fights Morales next that would be frustrating because I've been calling Bradley out, but he doesn't want to fight me. It depends on Morales, he can make more money fighting me than Bradley and it would
be a bigger fight as well.”
The chief of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, in the meanwhile also commented on his stable champion. Schaefer revealed Khan, who recently knocked out the Super, Zab Judah, in the fifth round to claim the IBF title, has two mandatory challengers
waiting but they are of less concern, as Khan wishes to take on the winner of the Morales-Matthysse bout.
Schaefer remarked, “It's very likely Amir will face the winner, particularly if it is Morales. The question facing Amir is that he has two mandatories waiting, one of them is Lamont Peterson and the other is the winner of Maidana against Robert Guerrero
later this month.”
Let’s see whether Khan, who has won 26 of his 27 fights including 18 by the way of a knockout, gets a match against Erik Morales or not.
