Amir Khan: I am ready to fight Floyd Mayweather even in his next fight – Boxing news
The International Boxing Federation’s and World Boxing Association’s Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, has claimed he is ready to take on the five-division world champion and the World Boxing Council Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, Floyd
Mayweather, in his very next fight.
Mayweather is currently scheduled to take on the Vicious, Victor Ortiz, on September 17, 2011 whereas Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, is also due for one more fight in December this year.
However, the 24-year-old Bolton’s finest warrior, Khan, who has won 26 of his 27 fights, with 18 of his fights coming his way by a knockout, told the media he is ready to fight the Mayweather after he is done with Ortiz.
The American undefeated legend, Mayweather, who has won all of his 41 fights with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, will be stepping in the ring after almost a gap of two years. Therefore, Khan reckons his bout with Mayweather might take some
time.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I’m not going to wait! I want to fight Floyd at his best really, so maybe after the next fight for Floyd could be me. So that just shows that I just want to fight Floyd. Maybe in between I might have one or two
more fights because Floyd likes to stay out of the game a little bit longer, but I’m ready to fight Floyd even in his next fight. I mean after Victor Ortiz I might have to take him on.”
In the end, Khan stated he wants to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and for that he needs to keep his winning spree going on. The Brit remarked he has made a strong fan base in England but he needs to win in the US as well.
Khan said, “I mean I’m climbing the pound-for-pound rankings slowly and I think I’m in the top ten. So yeah, definitely! I’m just going to keep on winning and keep on winning more fans over as well, especially in America.”
