Amir Khan: I am still physically and mentally strong – Boxing News
Following a heart-breaking defeat at the hands of Danny Garcia, Amir Khan is dismantled yet confident of making a strong comeback. Khan has promised his fans that he will be back on the track, winning titles as he did before.
“We will come back stronger - we have come back stronger from defeat before and won titles,” said Khan, who feels he is being dejected by many around the globe.
“A lot of people write me off, or think I've been going for years and years. I still have my best years to come.”
“I'm 25, I still believe I've not hit my peak yet and I still have a long, long way to go. I want to tell everyone that Amir Khan is not finished yet and still has a lot left in him.”
“I've always said that around about 28, I will retire. Some fighters don't turn pro until they are 25 and even being 28 and retiring is young.”
Khan wants to prove his mettle by going for a rematch against Garcia. Khan believes Garcia was under control just when the Bolton proud made a blunder and got caught in Garcia’s vicious blow.
However, the former WBA light welterweight titlist believes he still has a lot in him left. He added that even when he is 28 he will have a lot in him left to give to the sport.
Khan was regarded as a ‘write-off’ by fellow Briton fighter Carl Froch. According to Froch, Khan’s career is over and he should consider retiring.
To a certain extent, Froch’s claims are correct, as Khan has lost to two mediocre fighters. He lost to Lamont Peterson last year in December but had the opportunity of blaming the judges and steroids for the defeat. However, this time he was defeated by
Garcia via knockout, leaving no room for Khan to complain.
Now, Khan wants to change his training routines in order to prepare better for his opponents. At least this time, the Bolton proud knows it was his own mistake which led him to his downfall and now he wants to fix it.
