Amir Khan: I really am feeling strong and powerful at this stage – Boxing News
Former unified IBF and WBA super lightweight champion Amir Khan approached his fans through his website. Amir released a letter, revealing about his preparations for his fight against Lamont Peterson on May 19 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
In his letter, Khan revealed, “The countdown has well and truly begun, we’re now less than a month away from the big fight on May 19th! I’ve been training hard here in the Philippines at altitude and am feeling in great shape. Manny has started his camp
as well so it’s nice to see him in the gym and though we are training at different times we tend to cross paths and have a chat or a little laugh together.”
He added that his coach Freddie Roach has been working with him in steps, devising strategy on how to approach the rematch against Peterson. Khan said that he has worked out on a lot of things to optimise and minimise the threat Lamont Peterson can pose.
Moreover, Khan said that he along with his trainer has gone through their previous fight tape over and over again to understand the fighting style of Lamont Peterson better.
Khan, who sounded very confident, said that he is feeling really strong at this stage and that he knows y the time he will enter the ring he will feel stronger. In addition, Khan admitted that sparring for his rematch against Peterson has been exciting since
he has had the opportunity to take on a lot of bigger guys with styles similar to Peterson.
The letter was released through Amir Khan’s personal website ‘amirkhanworld.com’. Probably Khan wanted his fans to know that he is in Philippines alongside the WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to train for the big day. Manny Pacquiao is training
for his fight against Timothy Bradley which is scheduled for June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Both fighters, Pacquiao and Khan, are using similar training approaches to prepare for their mega-bouts.
For now, that is all Khan had to tell his fans about his match on May 19.
