Amir Khan: I think I should start thinking about myself now – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF light welterweight champion Amir Khan finds himself on the verge of giving it all up for the betterment. Khan was brutally thrashed by Danny Garcia in the ring. He suffered a highly damaging hook to the neck and then the fight was stopped
in the fourth round.
Although Khan has admitted his mistake this time, he still is coming up with explanations. Now, Khan believes his trainer Freddie Roach was not as attentive towards him as he should have been.
While talking about reconsidering his relationship with Roach, Khan said, “I'm sure Freddie will understand. He's also been a fighter. He also understands a lot of travelling, here, there and everywhere [is hard]. I'd rather stay in one place and train,
like I used to do. I love training in LA, the sparring and everything. Maybe I could come back to the UK and fight in front of the home fans, get to see the family, not spend too much time away from home.”
He added that these are the things everyone needs to do for the betterment. Khan appreciated Roach for being the best trainer in the world but confessed that he is not Freddie's top priority. According to Khan, it is about time for him to look into the matter
and try to make himself the first priority.  Khan wants a complete revamp, not just in his training regime but also in his attitude and the way he takes things.
Khan’s humiliation at the hands of Danny Garcia did not only take away the Briton’s title but also his prestige. He was defeated by a not-so-top-of-the-line fighter at the light welterweight level, which definitely was an embarrassment. Moreover, Garcia’s
knockout to Khan is already being touted as history’s best.
Khan might not agree but Garcia indeed proved his mettle in the ring. Khan promised his fans to knockout Garcia in the third round but what happened was completely opposite. The British-Pakistani fighter went down tumbling after he got hit on the neck by
Garcia’s wild blow.
Khan is insisting a rematch against Garcia, but Angel Garcia does not want to go for it now.
