Amir Khan: I will be the champ again soon - Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist Amir Khan is hopeful that he would be a world champion soon. Khan, who defeated American unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina past Saturday via TKO, is looking for a world championship fight next. Khan lost his WBA
title to Danny Garcia earlier this year, attracting criticism from fellow fighters and analysts.
Now, the Bolton proud is back on the winning track, hoping that he would soon be on the top again.
“I will be the champ again soon,” said Khan, who got his lost confidence back after defeating Carlos Molina in the tenth round via TKO.
On the other hand, Danny Garcia, who almost destroyed the Briton fighter, is now ready to give the Bolton proud another chance to prove his skills. Danny Garcia and his father Angel Garcia were previously not in the mood to give Khan another chance but now
they are.
“We’ll fight Khan again and knock him out again. Even though we know that if he had beaten us he would never have given us a re-match,” said the Garcias.
Following his defeat to Garcia, Khan made some prominent changes in his arsenal, mainly of replacing his offensive trainer Freddie Roach with ‘defensive’ trainer Virgil Hunter, who is well known for crafting Andre Ward into the second best pound for pound
fighter in the world.
“I will fight Garcia again whenever and wherever he wants. The feeling is mutual, even if the money is doing much of the talking when Danny boy says: 'I’m open to a second fight,’” said Khan.
Currently, Danny Garcia is scheduled to fight Zab Judah in February while Khan is being scheduled for an April 13 showdown. In other words, they both might not clash that soon, since their schedules will not allow them to.
“I expect to become an even more complete boxer after more fights under Virgil,” said Khan while talking about his boxing skills.
For now, Khan is back on the winning track, even though Molina was not a fighter of his calibre. Khan and his crew members believe he has proven his skills against an unbeaten fighter and now he is ready for bigger challenges.
