Amir Khan: I would love to fight Bradley at 147 – Boxing News
Former IBF and WBA welterweight champion Amir Khan wants to face Timothy Bradley at 147 weight. However, Khan’s condition for the match is that Bradley should beat Manny Pacquiao on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas impressively to get a shot at him.
Khan has previously stated that Bradley twice turned down his offer for a fight.
In his recent interview, when asked about the situation, Khan said, “I would love to fight Bradley at 147, if he somehow manages to come through. I don’t think he’s going to beat Manny, but it’s a fight that we put to him [Bradley] before when he was at
light-welterweight and he turned it down twice. I wouldn’t face Manny because we are friends and share the same trainer and there are plenty of other big fights out there.”
Khan further revealed that he believes Manny Pacquiao will pull off a victory against Bradley, but it will not be easy. Khan and Manny Pacquiao are training partners and repeatedly the British-Pakistani pugilist has reported Manny Pacquiao as one of his
boxing idols. Now, Khan wants to back Manny Pacquiao for his title defence against Bradley.
Most analysts and fighters believe Manny Pacquiao will be too heavy for Bradley to take. Last week, former professional boxer Ricky Hatton said that Manny Pacquiao will defeat Bradley for sure, but he needs to ensure that it is a dominating victory rather
than the one like last year against Juan Manuel Marquez.
Similarly, Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao’s trainer, believes Manny Pacquiao will easily eat up Timothy Bradley for supper. According to Roach, Pacquiao is fast and powerful, whereas Bradley is just speedy but lacks good punching power. Roach even predicted
a knockout victory for Pacquiao saying that Bradley will not be able to withstand the Filipino tornado.
For now, both fighters are in Las Vegas, getting ready for their bout tonight. This is the first ever mega-bout of Bradley’s career so he is surely going to be a bit nervous. However, according to Bradley, he is angry and in the mood to take down Manny Pacquiao.
