Amir Khan: If I was David Haye, I would have happily left the ring via knockout – Boxing news
The current WBA World super lightweight champion Amir Khan has said if he was at David Haye’s place against Wladimir Klitschko, he would have loved to leave the ring by the way of a knockout on July 2, 2011.
The Hayemaker, David Haye, recently lost his WBA world heavyweight championship belt in a unification bout for the heavyweight titles at Hamburg’s Imtech Arena against the IBO, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko.
Haye declared a lot ahead of the fight but on the fight night he was seen in survival mode for most of the time and as a result, Wladimir secured a unanimous victory over him.
The 30-year-old brash Londoner, Haye, was criticised by many people afterwards as they think he has let the British people down.
The 24-year-old Khan, who is scheduled against Zab ‘Super’ Judah for a potential bout on July 23, 2011, also commented on the fight.
The Brit believes Haye did not put in his best, as he thinks Haye was just avoiding Klitschko’s knockout punch.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I think David should have pushed in a little more and not given him as much respect. If that was me in David's shoes - I would have gotten stuck in there. I would have happily have left the ring via knock out, but
that's just me.”
In the end Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, admitted the Klitschko brothers are not easy to beat as they both are very big and have a lot of skills. He also revealed he came to know about them on the fight night when he saw the 6 ft 6.3” Haye standing
in front of them.
“Wladimir was just so much bigger. I never really realised how much bigger he was until he stood next to David Haye because when I myself stand next to Haye. David Haye can comeback, he can win another title at heavyweight. But the Klitschko brothers look
unbeatable. So big and so strong,” said Khan.
