The current WBA World super lightweight champion Amir Khan is super confident ahead of his unification bout with the IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah this weekend on July 23, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Though Amir ‘King’ Khan will enter the fight as a favourite, many think since Judah is a southpaw there could be an upset.
The Bolton’s finest therefore has been sparring with the Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny Pacquiao, who is also a southpaw and an eight-division world champion.
Khan thinks sparring with Pacquiao will really help him on the fight night. He claimed Pacquiao gave him his best shots during the sparring session and he took them all.
Khan, who has won 25 of his 26 professional fights including 17 by the way of a knockout, also believes he has the strongest chin in the world of boxing.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Manny's hit me with a clean back hand, his hardest shot, and I walked straight onto it and still stood there. He was asked if I have a glass jaw and he said 'what are you talking about, I spar with him and he's
knocked lots of sparring partners out who are heavier.”
“I've proved I've probably got one of the best chins in the boxing business. I've been hit with huge shots in sparring,” added Khan.
In the end, Khan revealed he has had almost 50 sparring sessions with Pacquiao and they always exchange full-blooded shots.
Khan remarked, “Sparring at the Wildcard is like a fight, it's not a spar. We throw full-on power shots.”
There is not much time left in this mega unification showdown between two of the boxing’s best. However, let’s see if Amir Khan really has what it takes to shrug off the American Super, Judah, in front of his home crowd.
