Amir Khan: The organisations should strip Timothy Bradley of the two titles he has – Boxing news
The new International Boxing Federation’s and World Boxing Association’s World Super light welterweight champion, Amir Khan, desperately wants to become an undisputed light welterweight champion before he goes up to 147 pounds category.
Therefore Khan, who knocked out Zab Judah in the fifth round to claim the IBF title last weekend on July 23, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas, wants to take on Bradley as he currently holds the World Boxing Council’s and World Boxing Organisation’s
World Light Welterweight titles.
The Desert Storm, Bradley, has already pulled out once against Khan and the Brit believes nothing positive will happen this time as well.
The 24-year-old from Bolton, Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, told the media he does not think Bradley will face him in the ring as he reckons Bradley is scared of him.
Khan stated everyone knows he has always wanted to be an undisputed champion and if Bradley does not turn up at least people will know it that he wanted a match, but was not given a chance.
“I don't think the fight against Bradley will happen because I think he is scared to take it on,” Khan said.
Khan added, “The undisputed unified champion is something I've always wanted to be, but if the Bradley fight doesn't happen, then at least the world will know I wanted the fight and he pulled out.”
In the end, Khan said the organisations should strip off Bradley’s titles because he is not giving other fighters a chance to unify the division.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I really think the organizations should strip him of the two titles he has at the moment and maybe vacate them for the next opponent I face, because then at least that gives another fighter the option to fight for
a world title.”
Let’s see if Bradley responds to Khan’s statements and offer him a match as it will certainly be a very promising bout.
