Amir Khan: There will be a lot of pressure but I can cope with it – Boxing news
The current WBA World super lightweight champion Amir Khan is set to face the current IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah in a unification fight this weekend on July 23, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
This will be Khan’s biggest fight thus far and therefore the Bolton belter knows there will be a lot of pressure on him on the fight night.
However, the 24-year-old Brit believes he can cope up with the pressure. He told the media since it is a unification bout, he cannot even think of losing it, as it is going to take him back to the starting point.
Khan, widely known as King Khan, will enter the fight as the favourite. Therefore, he stated he not only has to win the fight only but he has to win it in style.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “There is so much pressure on me but I can cope with it. If I lose this it will be a case of going back to the drawing board, so I will be making sure that such a thing does not happen. I not only have to win but
win in good style to keep it all going. It’s vital that I win and win well to impress the fans.”
Khan has won 25 of his 26 professional fights including 17 by the way of a knockout. His only defeat came against the Colombian Breidis Prescott back in 2008. It was a huge upset, as Prescott somehow landed a solid a right hand punch forcing Khan to crash
down on the canvas.
Khan also commented on his only defeat and remarked it was a nightmare for him but on the same note, he said he has never looked back.
Khan added, “The last thing I want is a reversal like that. But that was a kick up the backside for me and I have never really looked back since that night because I have been more and more focused.”
