Amir Khan believes corruption was involved in Pacquiao’s defeat to Bradley – Boxing News
The newly reinstated WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan believes Manny Pacquiao’s split decision loss to Timothy Bradley was unfair.
While most fans and analysts were already blaming the judges for scoring Pacquiao low, Khan went a mile ahead indicating corruption was involved.
“I believe Manny Pacquiao won that fight,” said Khan.
“Manny’s a good friend of mine, we train together and everything. I think it was just a shame. I only had him losing three rounds in that fight,” the Bolton proud added.
Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The split decision by the judges soon became controversial, igniting public outrage from all around the world.
Khan is currently preparing to face WBC light welterweight titlist Danny Garcia tomorrow, July 14, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. His loss to Lamont Peterson in December last year was somewhat the same as Pacquiao’s loss.
“I think a little bit of corruption may have been involved. The same with my fight with Lamont Peterson; I think corruption may have been involved. But we never got to the bottom of it but things happen for a reason. Justice will still be done for Manny
Pacquiao. I still believe that Manny Pacquiao’s still the best fighter in the world,” added Amir ‘The King’ Khan.
Khan earlier called Pacquiao’s loss a robbery by the officials.
It should be noted here that the WBO has already declared Pacquiao the winner, after reviewing the fight with five international judges. Every judge rated the fight for Pacquiao. However, according to the World Boxing Organisation’s statement, it cannot
reverse the decision but only has the authority to order a rematch.
As of now, Pacquiao is scheduled to fight on November 10, but his opponent has not been decided yet. Pacquiao will be meeting Bob Arum this week or the next to decide his next opponent. Chances are that Pacquiao will land a fourth instalment match against
Juan Manuel Marquez, even though fans are more interesting in Pacquiao taking on Bradley once again.
