Amir Khan believes he might have helped Manny Pacquiao with timing and agility – Boxing news
Amir Khan, who is currently the unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, believes he might have helped Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao with timing and speed ahead of his much-anticipated bout with the
Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez.
The bout will take place on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas Nevada.
Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), and Amir Khan are both trained by Freddie Roach, who is one of the most well-known boxing trainers in the world. Khan
thinks his speed and power are superior to Pacquiao.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, who is commonly known as King Khan, admitted Pacquiao is an inspiration for him before he claimed he is one of the quickest boxers in the world.
Khan, who will start training in Los Angeles on Monday, revealed he normally spars with Pacquiao a lot and therefore the Brit reckons he might have helped Pacquiao with some speed and agility.
“I love watching Manny train. It's an inspiration to me,” said Khan. “I think I'm faster than Manny Pacquiao but I'm not as strong. I'm one of the quickest fighters in the world. I think that's what he might have picked up, some quickness.”
In the end Khan, who will meet Lamont ‘Havoc’ Peterson on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C, also explained why he is moving up to the 147-pound division. Khan said he is moving up to 147 lbs because he is not
fighting opponents in this division.
“The reason I'm moving to 147 isn't that it's too hard to make fights. I can't get opponents,” Khan said. “I'll have a lot of people (at welterweight). I'll get fights because they will say, ‘He’s moving up. He’s learning.’”
Marquez is a three-division world champion and currently the WBA Super, WBO and the Ring Lightweight World Champion but let’s see if Pacquiao can once again win against Marquez in the ring.
