Amir Khan believes his clash with Garcia will be more entertaining than Haye vs. Chisora – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF champion Amir Khan believes his clash with Danny Garcia will be more entertaining for the fans than Haye vs. Chisora. Both the events are falling on the same date, dividing fans’ interest. Khan will be taking on Garcia on July 14, and
on the same date Haye is scheduled for a grudge match against Dereck Chisora.
When asked about the situation, Khan asserted, “I don't think it will take any limelight away from my fight. There's more interest in the States in my fight than Haye-Chisora definitely, 100 percent. Mine is a world title fight against an unbeaten fighter
while the other one isn't and will be totally one-sided. David is going to easily win and just walk straight through Chisora. I think he's doing it just to shut him up – and Chisora needs shutting up and throwing out.”
Amir Khan was initially scheduled to take on Lamont Peterson in a rematch for the WBA and IBF titles. However, after Peterson’s failed drug test issue sprung up, Khan’s rematch was cancelled. The British-Pakistani pugilist was highly depressed over the news.
Since Peterson’s failed drug test, Khan has made it a point to bring up the issue in every media interaction he has been in. In his interview last week, Khan made it a point to call Peterson a ‘cheater’ yet again. He also said that Peterson should be banned
from the sport so that others do not follow him.
According to Khan, Peterson’s drug test report proved he cheated against him in December when he won the titles. Khan was already upset about his loss and was training hard with fellow pugilist Manny Pacquiao. However, to Khan’s dismay, the match was cancelled
and the Briton was left with no other option than to face unbeaten Danny Garcia.
As of now, Khan believes he is in the right shape to be the first one to bring a loss in Garcia’s portfolio. According to Khan, Garcia is a tougher fighter but he is not difficult to beat. Khan plans on moving up in weight once he defeats Garcia.
