Amir Khan blames Pakistan government for not promoting boxing – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF unified light welterweight titlist Amir Khan claimed Pakistan government has shown lack of interest in promoting boxing worldwide. According to the Bolton proud, he has tried his level best to ensure Pakistan boxers are promoted at an
international but nothing can happen until the government shows interest.
Khan held a press conference in order to promote his December 15 engagement with unbeaten American fighter Carlos Molina. The fight will be held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. While talking to Geo News, a Pakistan news channel, Khan said, “I need to speak
to someone high up in the Ministry of Sports and in the government.”
“I am willing to help but need someone’s support in the government to make this happen. That’s not happening at the moment.”
Khan then shed light on India’s fight talent, saying the country has been promoting its fighters recently.
“India improved a lot because Indians support each other and they have the government’s support. I want to help the people of Pakistan and want to give something back to them. Pakistan has a huge pool of talent but they have never been given a chance,” said
the Briton fighter.
Khan revealed that he has helped build five hospitals in Pakistan for those who are unable to afford healthcare. He even revealed his plans, saying he wants the country to progress and that he wants children to go to school and people of Pakistan to be educated.
Khan is quite ambitious when it comes to the people of Pakistan. His ancestors belong to Pakistan and so the Briton believes he owes it to the nation.
Pakistan is currently going through several calamities, be it healthcare, water allocation, economy and terrorism. Several Pakistani internationals want to help the country by putting their best efforts forth.
“We want them to have clean drinking water. We need to have more people to support people in Pakistan,” urged Khan.
The former champion revealed he would be making another trip to Pakistan next year in January. Khan is excited to meet his ‘own people’ and he believes he will once again provide support to the people of Pakistan.
