Amir Khan insists he is not afraid of Floyd Mayweather or anyone else – Boxing news
Amir Khan, who is currently the unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation light welterweight champion, has insisted he is not afraid of anybody out there not even Floyd Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and
the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, who is more commonly known as King Khan, claimed in front of the media that he does a lot of training and hard work and he is confident of beating anyone out there.
“If I train hard and keep training the way I do, I don't think there's anybody out there who can beat me,” Khan said on Monday.
Khan, who carries a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is currently set to defend his titles against Lamont Peterson on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center
in Washington D.C.
This is Khan’s last fight at 140 pounds division before he moves up to 147 pounds division is search of some big fights and his main aim is to set up a super-fight with the undefeated American legend, Mayweather Jr., who holds a perfect record of winning
all of his 42 professional fights, including 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout.
Khan stated he is not afraid of fighting Mayweather even. Mayweather has always been at a distance from Khan’s stable-mate Manny Pacquiao due to their dispute over random blood-testing but Khan has no problems with the Olympic style blood-testing, as he
stressed he always fights clean.
“We need a little more time to think about it, to look into it,” Khan said. “I never shy away from any fight. If they put Floyd Mayweather in front of me, I'll be more than ready, but first I've got Lamont Peterson to take care of.”
“If that fight did come off, I'm happy to give them a test,” Khan said. “I'm a clean fighter. I'm used to it.”
The 34-year-old American superstar, Mayweather Jr., will return to the ring on May 5 and he has yet not named any opponent for him so let’s see if Mayweather gives Khan a chance to fight him, as it will be certainly attract a lot of boxing fans.
