Amir Khan keen to beat Lamont Peterson to avenge his defeat – Boxing news
Amir Khan vs. Lamont Peterson rematch is on the cards for May 19, 2012 in Las Vegas. After going through thick controversy, Khan finally got his rematch against Peterson.
Both fighters are now releasing media statements to prove their stance to the world.
Amir Khan, who lost both his titles on December 10, 2011, said that he is eager to fight Peterson again and get his titles back. He further said that he never accepted his defeated under the controversial circumstances that were created in his last fight.
The presence of Mustafa Ameen ‘the mystery man’ at the ringside and the unjustified deductions of points by the referee were two major issues that irked Khan.
Khan tweeted confirmation of the match of Thursday saying that Lamont Peterson has agreed for the rematch. The match will take place in Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Hotel, which is a neutral venue so none of the fighters will have the home crowd advantage.
On his rematch, Khan asserted, “I'm delighted that I have finally been given the chance to avenge the result of my last fight. It's clear I wasn't happy with what went on in the previous fight, but that takes nothing away from how Lamont Peterson fought.
I'm going to take care of business inside the ring and this fight is going to be just as exciting as the last one. The only difference is going to be in the outcome.”
However, Khan is not the only one giving out statements even Peterson is doing so. In his recent media appearance, Peterson said that he is happy to have his first ever title defence against Khan. He said he is eager to fight to defend his title whether
it is against Khan or anyone else. He added further that this fight will not be under any controversial circumstances and that he will beat Amir Khan to prove to the world that he is indeed the champion.
Both the fighters have had their share of words by now. The bout will now confirm as to which one is the better man in the ring.
