Amir Khan kicks off Twitter row with Marcos Maidana, apologises to Robert Guerrero – Boxing news
The current unified International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association World Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, apologised to Robert Guerrero but has kicked off a war of words on Twitter with the current World Boxing Association’s interim
Super Lightweight champion, Marcos Maidana.
The Ghost, Robert Guerrero, who is a former IBF Super Featherweight champion and a former two-time IBF featherweight champion of the world, was scheduled to face the El Chino, Marcos Maidana, in a highly anticipated main event of Home Box Office on August
27, 2011.
However, the American pugilist, Guerrero, recently withdrew from the fight reasoning a left shoulder injury occurred during a sparring session.
On hearing the news Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, accused Guerrero of being paid off by the Argentinean boxer, Maidana.
Khan Tweeted, “No injury, I reckon maidana payed off Guerero steap aside money, so he can become the WBA champ because I Have moved up as WBA super champ.”
Khan and Maidana fought back in December 2010 in a unification fight, which was awarded as ‘The Fight of the Year.’ Khan defeated Maidana on a unanimous points’ decision but in the late rounds, he took terrible beating from Maidana.
Since then Maidana, who has won 30 of his 32 professional fights, with 27 of his fights coming by the way of a knockout, has been calling out Khan to fight him and he did something similar while responding to the Brit on Twitter.
While speaking on his inclusion, the 28-year-old Maidana said, “amir queen con I wait for u! I'd fight u tomorrow at your backyard! Stop running.”
The Bolton’s finest Khan has now replied by apologising Guerrero for what he said but he has shown no respect for Maidana, who accused the Britain’s best of begging the WBA for not sanctioning a rematch against him.
“Guys I was messing around about the injury of Guerrero. Apologies for the tweet. I'm sure he didn't get paid step aside money. Let's hope he recovers. Bet Maidana's happy for not wanting to get beaten up,” he said.
