Amir Khan might encounter his ‘mystery man in the hat’ Mustafa Ameen – Boxing News
After his double title loss to Lamont Peterson in December in a Washington bout, Amir Khan had made claims of unjust points deduction and later on, of a ‘mystery man in hat’ influencing judges to change scores. News is that the ‘mystery man’ will be visiting
Khan’s local gym for the USA boxing team it will host for the London Olympics.
Even though Amir Khan got his rematch for May 19, 2012, after his side withdrew the appeal from the IBF, grudges between him and Peterson’s side still prevail.
Moreover, Amir Khan’s fury over what happened has not find solace yet. He still is looking forward to find out what exactly happened during the bout and what exactly the mystery man, who was later identified as Mustafa Ameen an IBF volunteer, was doing there.
Mustafa Ameen clarified his stance saying he was just talking to the judges to point out a simple mistake in the scores.
Ameen will be there in the gym since he looks after Michael Hunter. On his presence in the gym and whether it could create problems, Khan’s father Shah said, “If Mustafa wants to come to our gym we'd have no objection. We would welcome him with open arms.
What has happened is in the past. Everyone in our camp has moved on and bear no grudges against anyone."
While Khan’s father has permitted Ameen’s presence to the gym, no updates from Khan have been received yet. Khan’s aggressive behaviour after he lost to Peterson has shocked many of his fans and boxing analysts around the world. You cannot really judge as
to what he will be up to if he comes face to face with Ameen. However, the only good news for Ameen is that Khan might not be present at the gym since he will be training for his rematch against Peterson.
After all the controversies that sprung up after Peterson’s victory, Khan has become the ‘media boy’. Last week he said the WBA has reinstated him as champion, which was later refuted by the organisation saying if Khan wants to be the champion again he has
to defeat Peterson.
