Amir Khan next fight will it be Michael Katsidis or Joel Casamayor
Amir Khan is currently the WBA light welterweight champion, having made a successful American debut in May at Madison Square Garden in New York when he stopped tough Paulie Malignaggi in the 11th round. The victory left several questions about Khan’s future, including who he will be fighting next.

It appears that Khan’s next opponent will be Michael Katsidis, who will be facing Khan in the UK at the end of the July.

Rumors are going around Katsidis the destroyer of Kevin Mitchell in London last month, had pulled out of a possible fight with Khan in London on 31 July. But Brendon Smith from Katsidis corner said " Katsidis is available".

As reported by BBC Khan is set to fight his next boat with Joel Casamayor in a WBA light-welterweight title defence in UK.

The Cuban veteran has been around for a while and is the former super-feather and lightweight world champion and has already run through Katsidis in 2008.

Some in the boxing circle believe this is one more match making by Freddie Roach who doesn’t want Khan to fight Katsidis. On the other hand there are others who believe Khan is not Mitchell and will take Katsidis to the cleaners.
While the immediate question of whom Khan will be fighting next appears to be solved, there are still larger questions about the shape of Khan’s career moving forward. Specifically, there is the question of whether Khan will continue to fight as a light welterweight or move up in weight class to the welterweight division in the near future.
There are several reasons why Khan might move to welterweight soon. Certainly, he can do it physically. At 5’10”, he definitely has the frame and body type to easily put on the weight needed to move up to the next weight limit. And his past performances have suggested that he has more than enough power to be an effective puncher at the next level. With 17 knockouts in 23 wins, it’s clear that he can move up to the next level and still be a big-time puncher.
