Amir Khan once again vows to not repeating the same mistakes – Boxing News
British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan, who stated a month back that he will not repeat the same mistakes against Peterson in the rematch, once again got the opportunity to clarify his stance. In his recent media interaction, the former unified WBA (Super) and IBF Light Welterweight Champion vowed to make sure he would not make the same mistakes against Peterson.
It is ironic to hear such words from a boxer who was once claiming himself to be clean, and instead was blaming the referee for being unjust. If Khan says he will not repeat the mistakes, that means he is actually admitting the fact that he did make mistakes in the match which in particular would refer to the pushing he was giving Peterson.
Khan said, "I know I made mistakes, so we're going back to the drawing board to fix them. I'll be a different fighter in this fight because I'm hungrier and more focused than ever. Sometimes when things don't go your way, it makes you work harder. I want those titles back, and that is the reason I wanted this rematch."
On the other hand, Khan’s Hall of Famer coach Freddie Roach said, "We had a great fight last time. This time, we are going to make some new moves. We will make small adjustments with Khan, but they will make a big difference. (Training with Pacquiao) helps him prepare mentally, because if he can do it with Pacquiao, then he can with Lamont Peterson."
Khan will be stepping into the ring to face Peterson on May 19 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. For Khan, maybe his hunger and aggression is good enough to get him the titles back, most analyst feel they will be the cause of Khan’s downfall. Khan has always been known for his composure but this time it is different with and for him. Unlike his previous matches, this time we will get to see Khan’s aggressive and furious side, which indeed will pressurise him and not Peterson. If Peterson works his way out through Khan, he will retain his titles and his glory as the better man, since their last fight ended with a controversial decision and not much credit was given to Peterson.
