Amir Khan ready to challenge Carlos Molina – Boxing News
Former IBF and WBA unified light welterweight titlist Amir Khan is ready to challenge unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina in December. Khan, who has lost two fights in the past twelve months, is planning to revamp his career by adding a new trainer to his arsenal.
“I'm really pleased that Virgil Hunter is to become my new trainer,” said the 25-year-old former champion who fired Hall of Famer trainer Freddie Roach as his trainer last month. “Everyone in boxing knows about his skills and the success he has enjoyed over
the last few years. I'm looking forward to the start of my training camp and working on some new things with him. With Virgil in my corner, I know that I can get back to the very top of the light-welterweight division.”
Later on, Khan revealed that he is looking forward to go one on one with the undefeated Carlos Molina. “Molina is a good fighter, who has yet to taste defeat, so I know that he will be very dangerous,” he added.
“He's a tricky fighter who possess a lot of natural speed. I always want to face hungry young fighters and in Molina I'm up against a guy who has ambitions of world title success.”
Khan was rumoured to be working with Virgil Hunter, but both parties denied any official contract until last week. Khan officially announced his decision of working with Hunter, 2011’s best boxing trainer according to American boxing writers.
On the other hand, Hunter praised Khan as being one of the most talented fighters today. He added that he is excited to be Khan’s new trainer and that he will work on the Briton fighter’s flaws to bring out his potential to the fullest. According to Virgil
Hunter, Khan is an extremely speedy and brave fighter.
Hunter trained Andre Ward to success and now it is Khan who needs his help to reach the peak. Roach, on the other hand, is disappointed with Khan’s behaviour and believes the Briton should stay away from Manny Pacquiao. Since Khan wants to take on the Filipino
fight king, Roach asserted that the former champion will be knocked out in the first round.
