Amir Khan ready to go

Amir Khan is primed and ready for his clash against Danny Garcia on July the 14th and believes he is fantastic shape ahead of the battle.
Khan lost his WBA light-welterweight title in December to Lamont Peterson, however, “Havoc” has since tested positive for synthetic testosterone and been stripped of the title.
As a result of this the now vacant WBA strap has been added to this clash, along with Garcia’s WBC belt and Khan has also benefited from Petersons ban as it came during the training camp for their rematch, which means Khan has had an extended training camp.
“I’m glad both titles will be on the line. It makes our fight even bigger and exciting,” said Khan.
“I started training for the Peterson fight at the end of February, so it will be a long camp come fight night against Garcia. I’ve had an 18 or 19 week training camp, by the time of the fight, but there’s no chance of burnout.
“We do everything right. We have balanced the training quite well and not gone too hard and nor will it be too easy.
“I always have an intense training camp, but it’s a bit different this time because I’ve changed conditioning coach to Ruben Tabares. Ruben has worked with David Haye and he is making me work harder. It’s been a new challenge, this training camp, which has kept me fresh.”
Despite turning his attentions to Garcia, that defeat to Peterson still irks Khan and he has admitted that he would very much like to set the record straight, if Peterson is allowed to box again that is.
“Things happen for a reason and it’s good to know Lamont Peterson was on something in our first fight and then got caught and now admits it.
“But I would, 100 per cent, consider fighting him again. Even when it got called off I wanted to fight him, but then he started to lie and I thought, ‘I don’t have to give this guy a chance’.
“Maybe we could fight again if he is not banned for life, and I hope he does get a ban of some sort.
“I would love to set the record straight against him, after he took away my titles, but I will take one fight at a time and leave it to my promoter to sort out.”
