Amir Khan reckons Manny Pacquiao cannot beat Floyd Mayweather – Boxing news
Amir Khan, who is currently the unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, has said he does not think his stablemate, Manny Pacquiao, would be able to beat the undefeated American legend, Floyd
Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, holds a perfect record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. He is best known
for his physical fitness and defensive techniques. Khan after seeing Pacquiao’s recent performance thinks Pacquiao will not get past Mayweather.
Khan told the Telegraph, “Look, he has so much on his plate, and on the strength of this performance, he wouldn’t beat Floyd Mayweather Jnr. For his sake, we have to be honest. He is my friend.”
Moreover, the Bolton’s finest pugilist, who is a winner of 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, left everyone flabbergasted when he said he will suggest Pacquiao to seriously consider retirement now.
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, recently secured a 12-round controversial majority decision over Juan Manuel Marquez in their highly anticipated trilogy fight and Khan insisted Pacquiao was very lucky to get away once again.
The 32-year-old Pacquiao, who is the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), is rated as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Moreover, Pacquiao is the first eight-division world champion so far. Therefore, Khan being a friend of Pacquiao wants him to be wise and seriously think about his future now.
Khan remarked, “I’m going to tell him to consider retirement and not go on too long. He has some serious thinking to do – he was lucky and he got away with it against Marquez.”
“Manny did [win it], but he doesn’t have to keep taking these fights. The more he fights, the more it might take some of the gloss off his great legacy as the best fighter in the world,” Khan added.
