Amir Khan reveals Manny Pacquiao is afraid of needles – Boxing news
The currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, has revealed Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World
Champion (Super Champion), is afraid of needles.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, who is more commonly known as King Khan, in his exclusive interview at Fighthype.com was discussing the possibilities of a super-fight between Pacquiao and the five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council
Welterweight World champion, Floyd Mayweather, when he insisted the Filipino Star fears a needle. Khan claimed he has been told about it by Pacquiao’s camp.
Khan, who carries a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, also thinks Mayweather always controls the situation the way he wants it.
Khan told Fighthype.com, “Manny is scared of needles, his team told me. He don't like needles. He don't like taking tablets. He don't even like taking protein shakes. He don't wanna take a blood test. I mean, with the random testing, they could come up to
you an hour before the fight. Manny don't want that...Mayweather tries to control the situation how he wants it.”
The undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, wants Pacquiao to agree for Olympic-style blood testing, which requires random blood
testing until an hour before the bout. However, he was turned down by Pacquiao, as the Fighting Pride of Philippines reckons giving blood so close to the fight will take his power away.
Pacquiao, who is currently set to face the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, in a much-anticipated trilogy bout on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, is pretty small in size. Therefore, giving blood so close to the fight will certainly
affect his performance in the ring. So let’s hope if Mayweather shows a bit of flexibility and somehow sets up one of the most eagerly awaited bouts in the sport.
