Amir Khan reveals Pac-Man’s team wants him to fight Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news
Amir Khan, who is currently the unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight champion, has revealed Pacquiao’s team have set their sights on a possible clash between him and Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion).
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, who is set to take on Lamont ‘Havoc’ Peterson on December 10, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C, told the media there has been a gap created between his representatives and stable-mate Pacquiao’s team.
Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, insisted Pacquiao’s camp doesn’t want him to spar with Manny anymore, as he said they probably want them to meet in the ring.
"It's strange," he told the Bolton News, "There's tension in the camp. My team are cool and I'm just concentrating on Peterson but his team seem to be worried."
"His camp don't want me sparring with him and now we train at different times. It's like they're keeping us apart. It's like his people are thinking there could be a fight between us."
Khan and Pacquiao are both trained by Freddie Roach and they both have Alex Ariza as their conditioner. Therefore, Khan, who carries a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated he would not fight Pacquiao, as he thinks this bout will put Roach and Ariza in pretty awkward position.
Khan said: "Manny's never been on my radar. We're good friends and I'd never want to put Freddie and Alex [Ariza, his conditioner] in that position.”
Khan on many occasions has confirmed that he doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao because he is a very close friend to him. However, he is keen to have a mega-clash with the undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather.
Khan did say Mayweather is the one he is looking for but on the same note he remarked nobody knows if he gets a fight with Pacquiao.
“I would prefer to fight Mayweather but so many fights happen nowadays you just never know," Khan added.
