Amir Khan reveals about his personal life – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF unified light welterweight titlist Amir Khan spoke about his favourite movies, athletes, ambitions in life and a lot more with Sportsmail. Moreover, he also revealed that he was more into karate than boxing but then he had to make a switch.
“Not many people know this. When I was nine, I enjoyed karate and had big hopes when I went to my first tournament. My interest in the competition ended, though, when I got punched in the face... by a girl. It was probably one of the hardest shots I’ve ever
taken!” said Khan when asked to reveal a secret.
The Briton was then asked about the most embarrassing moment of his career, and without any hesitations he called the night he lost his title to Danny Garcia was the worst one.
“I don’t have to think too hard about this one. Losing my world titles to Danny Garcia in Las Vegas. It was such a frustrating night,” he said.
When asked about his favourite sportsman of all time, Khan named boxing legend Muhammad Ali as his inspiration. According to Khan, Ali was and will be the ‘Greatest’ of all time.
“I would have quite liked the idea of being involved in business but, saying that, I’d have probably ended up working in a supermarket,” said the former champion when asked what he would have done if he were not a sportsman.
Khan is scheduled to fight American unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina on December 15 in Los Angeles. He is coming off two losses, one to Lamont Peterson and the other to Danny Garcia. While his loss to Peterson was quite controversial, his loss to Garcia was
pretty authentic. Khan lost via fourth round knockout to the American unbeaten fighter, who claimed the Briton’s WBA title.
For now, Khan is working under his new trainer Virgil Hunter to improve his game, believing that his former trainer Freddie Roach was unable to strengthen his defence. Khan is looking forward to a victory over Molina in order to revive his career and go
for bigger fights such as against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
