Amir Khan reveals sparring against tougher guys than Molina – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist Amir Khan spoke to Marcos Villegas regarding his upcoming fight against American unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina. According to Khan, the fight brings along a lot of pressure but he has sparred against tougher
opponents and so he knows he can take down Molina.
“Yeah definitely. The pressure's on a little bit. I'm always under pressure no matter what fight I've gone into. It's good pressure. It's only pressure that makes me train hard and work hard. It's only motivating me. I know what to do,” said Khan when asked
if he is ready to go head to head with yet another unbeaten American fighter, after losing his WBA title to Danny Garcia.
“I know what mistakes I've made in the past, and I know not to make those mistakes again. Going into this fight, I'm confident, because I've trained very, very hard. Being a fighter who people have been saying all sorts about, and having the last two fights
as losses, I've come back stronger,” he added.
Khan will be facing Molina tomorrow in Los Angeles, hoping to grab an impressive win in order to revive his career. Despite the odds being with him, many critics believe Khan has lost the confidence he once had and now he is no more than just a fossil of
a great champion.
Khan is on a two fight lose streak. He lost his IBF and WBA unified titles against American fighter Lamont Peterson last year in December. However, he was lucky to regain the WBA title following Peterson’s failed drug test reports.
Unfortunately, Khan lost his regained WBA title the very next week against Danny Garcia, who knocked out the Briton in the fourth round. Garcia’s knockout victory was devastating for the Brit, and many analysts called him a ‘write-off’.
Khan is now hoping to silence his critics by making a strong comeback against Molina, even though the latter is not of an equal calibre. For Khan, this fight means a lot as it will decide his future but for others he was over with the Garcia loss.
