Amir Khan says Floyd Mayweather is one of the nicest persons he ever met – Boxing news
Despite all the rivalry between himself and Floyd Mayweather, Amir Khan has termed Floyd Mayweather as one of the nicest persons he ever met.
Khan is the current unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion. The Bolton’s finest, who is widely known as King Khan, is keen to set up a mega-clash with the undefeated American legend, Mayweather.
He was asked in his exclusive interview at Fighthype.com about how he takes Mayweather as a person outside the ring. Khan replied by saying that Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion,
is one of the nicest persons he has ever met.
The 34-year-old Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of them coming by the way of a knockout, is known for his arrogant behaviour and attitude within and outside the ring.
Though the 24-year-old Khan admitted all the facts, the Brit revealed he has met Mayweather a couple of times and found him to be very good as a person.
“Yeah, in front of the camera, he may be bit flash, a bit arrogant, and even over the top, Brad, but I’ve met him in the mall in Vegas, met him in England as well, and he’s the nicest guy ever. He wished me luck; gave me a hug. We talked about boxing and
how he is. I even asked for a photo, as I’m a big fan myself (laughing), and he was more than happy to take a photo, so that just tells you what type of person he is. It’s just a character and an alter-ego. He’s really a genuine nice guy,” Khan told Fighthype.com.
Khan, who carries a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is set to fight Lamont Peterson on December 10, 2011 in Washington D.C.
This is going to be Khan’s last fight before he moves up to 147-pound division, where the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao operate.
Let’s hope Khan gets a chance to take on Mayweather in 2012, as their bout will certainly pull a large crowd.
