Amir Khan says he is better in speed and punching than Floyd Mayweather – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Association’s and International Boxing Federation’s unified World Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, reckons he is superior to the five-division world champion and the World Boxing Council Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion,
Floyd Mayweather in terms of speed and punching power.
The undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who has won all of his 41 professional fights including 25 by the way of a knockout, is considered as one of the best fighters out there and Khan admitted the fact.
However the Bolton’s finest warrior, Khan, who has won 26 of his 27 fights, with 18 of his fights coming by the way of a knockout, believes he will very soon have all the tools to overpower Mayweather in the ring.
The 24-year-old Khan stated he has the best coach in the world and hopefully he will beat Mayweather if their fight happens in 2012.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I want to fight at the elite level to show people how good I am and I have the tools to beat Mayweather. I’m faster than him and I have a better punch, but he is technically brilliant and very smart. Those qualities
will come to me in time, especially as I have the best trainer in the world in Freddie Roach. I think Mayweather will happen in 2012.”
Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, is considered as one of the best boxers in Britain and therefore many people want him to fight the eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, who is also the current World Boxing Organisation’s Welterweight World
Champion (Super Champion).
Khan however has declared he will not fight Pacquiao as he is his best friend and they both respect each other a lot.
Khan remarked, “But there will never be a fight between Manny and me. We respect each other too much. It just wouldn’t feel right.”
