Amir Khan setting up a clash with Floyd Mayweather – Boxing news
The current WBA World super lightweight champion Amir Khan is confident of getting the biggest fight of his career against the five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather in the next twelve months.
The 24-year-old Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, told the media Mayweather wants him in his next fight. He revealed Golden Boy’s Richard Schaefer has spoken to Mayweather and his manager and they have agreed for the fight.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “It's very realistic. Golden Boy's Richard Schaefer spoke with Mayweather and his manager, and they really want the fight against me. And he also spoke to me and Freddie and we both agreed to take the fight in 2012.”
The British pugilist, Khan, who has won 25 of his 26 fights including 17 by the way of a knockout, then stated he would want the fight to be held in United Kingdom, as he believes Britain has not had a big fight since long.
Khan also claimed his clash with Mayweather, who is the current WBC Emeritus World Super Welterweight champion, will be one of the biggest clashes and it will break all the grossing records as of yet.
“I would want to bring that fight to the UK because in England we haven't had a real big fight for a long, long time. Floyd Mayweather against me, I think we could sell out Wembley or wherever,” Khan said.
The 34-year-old American pugilist, Mayweather, has never been defeated in the ring, as he has won all of his 41 fights including 25 by the way of a knockout. Therefore, Khan reckons if he is able to break Mayweather’s winning spree, he is going to be labelled
as one of the greatest boxers of all times to emerge from England.
“If I go in there and beat Floyd Mayweather, I think that I would be known as one of the greatest fighters in history to come out of England,” added Khan.
Let’s see if Khan gets a Mayweather clash, as it is surely going to be a very promising bout.
