Amir Khan shattered after annihilation by Garcia – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist Amir Khan feels it is about time for him to make some amendments in his training camp and lifestyle. The Bolton proud feels devastated and humiliated after suffering a fourth round knockout defeat at the hands
of Danny Garcia, and he wants to change his ways.
According to Khan, there is no margin left for any mistakes now. He believes his trainer and mentor Freddie Roach has not been fair to him. He wants to cut down on the travelling he has to do with Freddie Roach and concentrate more on his training.
When asked if he will be splitting up with Roach, the Briton replied, “Not for now. Not yet … I need someone who's with me all the way through. Like Ruben [Tabares, his new conditioner]. Ruben's with me throughout the whole camp, no travelling. Some times
a bit of travelling here and there can affect you.”
He added, “I'm at the stage now where I can't afford to make any more mistakes. I need to do things that are going to benefit me rather than thinking about other people – which I've been doing all my life."
Khan has vowed that he will only think of himself for now, without thinking about others. He wants to do things that are right for him because he is the one who takes the punches in the ring and no one else.
Khan was caught in a wild blow from Garcia that landed him on the mat in the third round. Since then, the Bolton proud shivered and staggered in the ring, as if he was taking his last breaths. Khan knew the show was over but he wanted to fight until his
last breath.
The defeat was contemplating for Khan since he got to know his blunders. Analysts have always been pointing out the fact that Khan’s punching power and his defence is weak but the British-Pakistani fighter has been covering it up but not now. Khan is well
aware of the fact that the slightest mistake now can cost him his career.
