Amir Khan signs John Joe Nevin – Boxing News
Amir Khan signed Irish fighter John Joe Nevin for his newly formed Super Fight Promotions. Last month, Khan signed his younger brother Haroon Khan with the promotions. Haroon Khan is yet to make his professional debut but Khan is hopeful that his younger
brother would make it to the top. Similarly, Khan is also quite impressed with Nevin, the 23-year-old fighter who won a super bantamweight silver medal this year in the Olympics.
Nevin also holds the credit of defeating Oscar Valdez of Mexico in the quarterfinals, something that surely takes him above other young fighters.
“When I saw John Joe Nevin at the Olympics, he really impressed me and I knew right away he was a real talent,” said Khan. “He's slick, moves well and has a lot of attributes that I know will take him very far as a professional. I'm extremely pleased that
we have managed to bring him to Super Fight Promotions because he's exactly the type of young, exciting and gifted talent we want under our banner.”
Not just the Olympics, Nevin also stands as a two-time world amateur bronze champion and five-time national amateur champion. He is yet to make his professional debut though and speculations are that it would happen on January 19 in Manchester, England.
“We have high hopes for him and under Super Fight Promotions he will have the best platform in which to fulfill his enormous potential,” Khan added.
It should be noted here that Khan’s newly formed promotions has already garnered enough response to be a success in the near future. Unlike other promotions, Khan believes his promotion will go beyond the norms.
On the other hand, Nevin expressed his excitement for signing up with the Bolton proud’s promotion, saying he is looking forward to continuing his relationship with Super Fight Promotions.
According to Nevin, he decided to work with Khan as he believes the latter is a world class fighter who understands the needs of a boxer. Nevin further said that since Khan himself is an Olympic medallist, he would understand the route the Irish needs to
take in order to reach the acme of success in the world of boxing.
