Amir Khan speaks about Kell Brook vs. Devon Alexander – Boxing News
Former IBF and WBA unified super welterweight titlist Amir Khan believes Kell Brook’s fight against Devon Alexander is the perfect. Brook, who has been eager to fight Khan, now has the Briton’s promise of fighting the winner of Brook vs. Alexander.
Brook will be challenging Alexander for the IBF title on January 19 in either Las Vegas or New York. He recently defeated Hector Saldivia in October to acquire the number one spot for the title. If Brook is able to defeat Alexander, he will move onto a fight
against Khan next year.
“I think it's a great fight. I think it's a great step up for Brook because he has been fighting at a lower level,” said Khan in his recent interview.
“I'm surprised he's taking the fight with Devon Alexander. Devon Alexander is a great fighter. It is a great fight for the welterweight division and in the future I can fight the winner,” he added.
“If he gets past Devon Alexander, then I think it makes sense to have a fight with him - and he'll have a world title [so] it makes sense to fight Brook maybe in the UK - it would be huge.”
Khan is set to face undefeated fighter Carlos Molina in Los Angeles on December 15. The showdown will be Khan’s last stand to prove his worth as a professional fighter. If he loses, there will not be much for the Briton to explore in the world of boxing.
Khan knows how important it is for him to win against Molina. He asserted that he is well aware of the importance of this, and that a loss can take him down further.
Khan lost his WBA light welterweight title to American fighter Danny Garcia in July this year. Before Garcia, Khan lost his unified titles to American Lamont Peterson. Two consecutive losses have already marred Khan’s career, and now there is no scope for
the Briton to take more losses.
Against Molina is Khan’s ultimate stand. A loss could mean the end of his career while a win could just keep him in the game.
