Amir Khan stands up against armed gang – Boxing News
Briton fighter Amir Khan and his brother Haroon, who is also a professional fighter, were engaged in a fistfight with an armed gang of six yesterday. The gang tried to rob Khan’s £100,000 Range Rover just when the former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist
unleashed the fury of his fists upon them.
Khan and Haroon were on their way back after a night out when they were stopped by a gang of six men through a 4x4 car. They overtook Khan’s ride and blocked their way, forcing the fighters to stop. The incident happened in Birmingham and witnesses testified
that the Khan brothers fought bravely against the men who tried to bully them.
“One (of the men) slapped Amir and clipped him on the lip but Amir pulled back and knocked him out cold,” a witness revealed to The Sun newspaper.
“Then five of them went for Amir and Haroon but they stood their ground and these guys got dropped one by one.”
Khan and Haroon were in Birmingham for a gig. Both fighters reside in Bolton, their hometown.
The Sun reported, “Police last night confirmed they were called out after reports of a fight. But a spokesman added: 'Nobody came forward.'”
While the witnesses and Khan’s fans around the world are chanting slogans of his bravery, his father Shah is not happy with his son’s courageous deed.
“Police last night confirmed they were called out after reports of a fight. But a spokesman added: ‘Nobody came forward,’” said Shah to The Sun Newspaper.
Khan is currently scheduled to take on unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina in December. The Bolton proud lost his WBA light welterweight title to American unbeaten fighter Danny Garcia via fourth round knockout. The loss was a career devastating one for Khan,
and now the Brit is looking forward to revamp his fighting skills with his new trainer Virgil Hunter.
Khan’s brawl with the gang has surely marked his courage but it is yet to be seen if he can defeat Molina to once again be a top ranked fighter. For now, Khan is being praised by his fans for standing up against thugs, who would have otherwise harmed him
and his brother.
