Amir Khan still on a look out for a super fight with Floyd Mayweather – Boxing news
The current unified International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association World Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, has revealed he is still on a look out for a super fight with the five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council
Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest pugilist, Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, told the media he is keen for a Mayweather clash. However, Khan does not believe whether the undefeated legendary American boxer, Mayweather, who holds a record of winning
all of his 41 professional fights, with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, would accept a fight with him or not.
Khan, who has won 26 of his 27 professional fights including 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated he is about to jump up at the 147 lbs division and there he wants to take on the best in the sport.
The Brit reckons he now has enough experience, speed and power to beat Mayweather.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Maybe next summer the fight against Floyd Mayweather could happen. It is about experience and timing and I think it is my time now. We want to jump in there with the best and beat the best.”
“Every young fighter has ambitions and I am really confident I have the style, speed and power to beat him. I also have the best team around me,” Khan added.
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny Pacquiao, has recently agreed to an Olympic-style drug sampling in order to set the most eagerly awaited fight between him and Mayweather.
Khan nevertheless believes if somehow Pacquiao versus Mayweather bout does not happen, then he could be an option for Mayweather but on the same note, Khan claimed Mayweather does not want to fight him as of yet.
Khan said, “If the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight doesn't happen I am happy to step in there - but that is if Floyd will take the fight. At the moment he is saying he doesn't want to fight me.”
