Amir Khan thinks Juan Manuel Marquez won the fight by one or two rounds – Boxing news
Manny Pacquiao’s stablemate, Amir Khan, who is currently the unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, is pleased for Pacquiao’s win but he has revealed he thought Juan Manuel Marquez won the
fight by one or two rounds.
Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation World Welterweight Champion (Super Champion), fought Marquez in their highly-anticipated trilogy fight last weekend on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in
Las Vegas, Nevada. Once again, a fight between both pugilists ended up in a controversy as Pacquiao was awarded a 12-round majority decision over the Mexican.
However, Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, has given away it was Marquez who dominated the fight by one or two rounds as per him. Moreover, Khan insisted Freddie Roach, who is his and Pacquiao’s trainer, also had the same in his mind before
the results were announced.
While speaking on his inclusion, Khan said, “It was a close fight. You could see Marquez had done his homework and knew what he needed to do. When they went into the last round, I thought Marquez was going to win and Manny's trainer Freddie Roach thought
the same. I thought Marquez won it by one or two rounds. But I'm pleased for Manny because he is a stablemate and a good friend.”
The 38-year-old Marquez, who is the current World Boxing Association Super, World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Lightweight World Champion, afterwards claimed he was robbed again and there are rumours of a possible fourth fight between the two and it
became more certain when Roach admitted it was a close fight and Marquez deserves a rematch.
“Of course Marquez deserves a re-match. He fought bravely and is a great counter-puncher. He and Nacho are a great team. Manny hit him with some good shots, but nothing great,” said Roach.
Pacquiao and Marquez have always put on a great show for the audience but unfortunately, no one out of them has been able to secure a convincing win. Therefore, let’s see if they sign another contract.
