Amir Khan to disclose identities of thugs soon – Boxing News
Former IBF and WBA unified light welterweight titlist Amir Khan is on the verge of disclosing the identities of the thugs who tried to rob his £ 100,000 Range Rover. Khan was on his way back from Birmingham when he was attacked by a gang of six thugs who
tried to rob his car. The Briton boxing icon was with his brother Haroon, who is also a professional fighter.
“The net is closing in on these guys and it’s only a matter of time before they are caught. The criminal underworld has turned on them because they’ve brought shame on their own community by attacking a national icon,” said an associate of Khan in an interview
with The Sun.
The incident took place last week and soon a video was posted on YouTube by one of the thugs, threatening Khan. The ‘masked man’ in the video displayed Khan’s wallet and car keys, asserting that it was the Briton who was knocked out and not them.
“We’ve been provided with a lot of information since The Sun broke the story and intend to pass it to detectives. We’ve got it on good authority that other gangsters want this mob caught for making their home city look bad,” he further added.
According to the witnesses at the spot, Khan and his brother knocked down the gang when one of the thugs tried to clip Khan with a knife. Both brothers escaped from the scene but later revealed their involvement. Witnesses testified to police regarding what
they saw.
Khan, who is already going through a distressing phase of his career, has once again become the centre of attention of controversies and criticism. Many critics are already of the view that the entire scene is a publicity stunt by Khan. On the other hand,
fans are chanting slogans of Khan’s bravery against the gang.
For now, Khan is on the go to get the criminals arrested. According to him, the mob has already disowned the thugs and now it is time for them to be revealed. Khan has promised he will bring forth the names soon to uncover the thugs.
