Amir Khan took supplements from shamed Victor Conte – Boxing News
Following TKO victory over then unbeaten American fighter Carlos Molina, British fighter Amir Khan’s relationship with shamed Victor Conte has been revealed. Khan’s camp has clarified that the Briton was well tested by the USADA.
Amir Khan went head to head against American fighter Carlos Molina on December 15, in what was being called his career reviving match. Khan won the showdown with an impressive tenth round TKO over Molina, silencing critics and those who spoke against him.
However, it seems like they once again have a chance to defame the Briton, who stands as one of the most popular fighters today.
“Amir did take supplements from a company called SNAC, which I believe is Victor Conte's company,” said Khan’s spokesperson.”Everything he took was declared to USADA, who were regulating the drugs tests for the Molina fight. Everything was cleared by them.”
Khan was introduced to Conte by his trainer Virgil Hunter, who was appointed by the Briton following his knockout defeat at the hands of American fighter Danny Garcia. Conte was jailed in 2005 for four months for being part of a vicious doping scandal. He
was found guilty of distributing steroids.
Conte is the chief executive of SNAC System Inc, a company that issued supplements to Khan before his fight against Molina. Even though Khan’s camp has clarified the issue, chances are that the Briton will have to listen to critics once again, trying to
pull him down.
“Carlos took some really good shots and he was still coming forward and that's when I thought I better stick to the plan. Virgil is a great trainer and I'm getting better at boxing and becoming the complete fighter. He is teaching me speed and power, when
to throw the big shots,” Khan had said after the fight. The Briton proved himself in the ring but against an inferior foe.
Khan is now targeting a rematch against American unbeaten fighter Danny Garcia, hoping to reclaim his WBA light welterweight title. Garcia knocked out Khan in the fourth round of their fight earlier this year in July. It is now up to Khan if he can get his
lost glory back or not.
